10 Questions to Ask Your IT Provider

One of the most important things you can do to make sure your business is built on a good foundation is to ensure that you have an outstanding IT services partner. The problem for many business owners and managers is that they often do not know the right questions to ask. To help save you some of that frustration, we would like to help you in your IT services evaluation process by providing some questions to ask your current IT provider or any potential IT provider.

1. Do they provide monthly reporting or quarterly meetings to keep you apprised of the performance of your network?

2. Do they insist on monitoring an offsite as well as an onsite backup, or are they letting you rely on outdated, failing backups?

3. Do they insist on doing monthly test restores of your backups to make sure the data is not corrupt and could be restored in the event of a disaster?

4. Are they remotely monitoring your network 24 x 7 x 365 to keep critical security settings, virus definitions, and security patches up to date to prevent problems in the first place? Have you ever received a call because they received an alert saying a hard drive, power supply, or other failed? This is one of the top ways to reduce costs and increase productivity.

5. Do they provide anti-virus, anti-spam and system backup software to make sure you are protected?

6. Do they consistently (and proactively) offer new ways to improve your network’s performance, or do they wait until you have a problem to make recommendations?

7. Do they explain what they are doing and answer your questions in terms that you can understand (not geek-speak)?

8. Do they complete projects and support requests on time and on budget, or do they end up taking longer and costing more than you expected?

9. Do they have a Quality Assurance program to make sure their technicians perform as expected?

10. Do they offer a cloud solution that offers an up time guarantee and minimizes your need to invest in local servers should you choose to do so?
