Mode5 accepted the challenge of our community's Chapter of the American Heart Association. It isn't exactly “The Amazing Race” but the goal of this American Heart Association event is pretty amazing! Here’s why!
According to Medical News Today, “Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women in the US and also the leading cause of death worldwide.” The American Heart Association reports the good news that “Research shows that cardiovascular disease… is largely PREVENTABLE. HeartChase supports the American Heart Association’s goal to reduce death from heart disease and stroke by 20% by the year 2020, and also to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20% by the year 2020 so that more lives are saved and fewer Americans die from heart disease.”
Chase Tinkham and Tiana Lopez, the Mode5 Tech Titans, braved the sweltering heat on Saturday, June 13 to raise funds locally with the support of their co-workers. Tiana had a special reason for participating. “I've seen heart disease affect people in my family in their older years, to young children like my little buddy Keaton, who is a fighter and a survivor.”
Mode5 is proud to be a sponsor of Chesapeake HeartChase 2015. Chase and Tiana reported that they had a great time participating in the event and raised a combined total $305 for the cause. In total, HeartChase Chesapeake raised $27,930.45 this year!
Congratulations to the Mode5 Tech Titans and HeartChase Chesapeake, Virginia on a successful event!
